Paralegals who have successfully completed an introductory level BTEC Paralegal Award Programme are entitled to Associate Membership of the Society of Specialist Paralegals.
Associate Membership is free for one year (£20 per annum thereafter), and entitles paralegals to use the letters A.S.S.P. after their names. In addition to becoming associated with a growing UK-wide network of qualified paralegals, Associate Members will receive a complimentary subscription to The Specialist Paralegal, the official magazine of the Society of Specialist Paralegals.

Associate Membership can be upgraded to full Membership at any time with the completion of a Specialist Paralegal Practitioner Qualifcation in association with the Universities of Strathclyde or the West of England. This qualification provides the legal secretary/paralegal or support staff with a recognisable academic qualification confirmed by one of the UK's leading law schools.
