The Specialist Paralegal magazine was established in 2004 as a quarterly publication for graduates of the University of Strathclyde’s paralegal training programme. It has since expanded to become the only magazine for qualified paralegal practitioners in the United Kingdom, with a countrywide circulation of 15,000.
The magazine is delivered directly to the desks of the backbone of the legal profession on a quarterly basis; as well as to the HR and training departments of legal firms, local authorities and educational establishments. It features news, comment, profiles/interviews and the occasional light-hearted lifestyle piece; and feature articles are regularly submitted from key figures within the legal profession.
We are always seeking contributions for the magazine - we would like to know what you have been up to lately, and what your hopes are for the coming year. Have you taken on a new project? Been promoted, or nominated for an award? Embarked on new training? Dealt with a particularly interesting or difficult case? Undertaken fundraising activities? The Specialist Paralegal is your magazine, and your experience and advice will help and inform your fellow paralegals.
In addition, we are always looking for your letters to the editor, opinions and problems.
I haven’t been receiving my Specialist Paralegal Magazine! The Society of Specialist Paralegals is currently in negotiations with the Institute of Paralegals and the Law Society on some exciting new initiatives of direct relevance to our 5,000 graduate paralegals. The Institute of Paralegals is the UK-wide, government recognised, not-for-profit professional body that represents the paralegal profession. The Institute already recognises the Specialist Paralegal Practitioner Qualification, delivered in association with the Universities of Strathclyde and the West of England, represents the pinnacle of academic achievement for the professional paralegal – and we are working together to ensure that your qualification is recognised at the highest level in the changing legal market. More information will follow shortly, and in the meantime you can keep up to date with the latest Society news on our blog.
